Avoid being Kerplunked when dealing with tricky issues in law and ethics

The publication of research around community pharmacists and their ethical decision making processes (PJ, 14 June 2008, p706) has made for interesting reading. The research has highlighted that pharmacists' training and the Royal Pharmaceutical Society's Code of Ethics have minimal, if any, influence on their de- cision-making processes ortheir ultimate course of action. The prominent influence appears to be deciding whether action, or inaction, will result in prosecution or some degree of disciplinary action, and therefore this is the main driving force behind the decision.
