Sound signals from several sources are classified into pre-defined categories taking into account the characteristics of the source devices. A hearing aid program is selected based on each selected source. The source units may be manually selected or automatically selected based on signal-to-noise ratio or signal features. Smooth changes may optionally be made in the hearing device output when changing the hearing aid programs.—DAP
