Italy's health system reforms on hold

After a turbulent election (Feb 24-25), Italy's political system is still frozen, as the different parties seem unable to form a stable coalition. "Everything is stuck", says Lucio Barani, a medical doctor and politician directly involved in the text of the latest reform to Italy's health system, known as Balduzzi's decree. He says of the reform: "It is like having assembled a nice car and not having the gasoline to drive it. In the meantime our [health] system is close to default."
