Argentina is considered a liberal country: it has a female president and has just legalised same-sex marriage. Yet, Illusions of Care: Lack of Accountability for Reproductive Rights in Argentina, a report released by Human Rights Watch on Aug 10, portrays a different image. The report suggests that women and girls suffer needlessly in Argentina because of negligent and abusive reproductive health care. This situation is not because a proper reproductive health care law is lacking-it is because the law is not enforced.
