Using proxy information, Sara Kenyon and colleagues showthat erythromyci n and co-amoxidav given to women in spontaneous preterm labour might result in more harm than good. With no objective evidence of abnormal genital-tract colonisation, these antibiotics might be causing harm by decimating normal flora rather than correcting abnormal flora.
