The peace agreement which ended southern Sudan's devastating war just over 3 years ago was expected to bring stability and economic prosperity to the resource-rich but impoverished region. But the high burden of disease and shortage of medical facilities and health workers are combining with rampaging armed gangsto perpetuate avoidable deaths and injury.
