Four Textile Companies Build Homes

The four largest textile companies in Greensboro, NC — Burlington Industries, Cone Mills, Guilford Mills, and Unifi — celebrated National Textile Week in 1996 by lending a hand to Habitat for Humanity of Greater Greensboro.The companies — all spirited competitors in the marketplace — worked together for three months, beginning in October, to build four Habitat houses in east Greensboro. They have committed a total of almost 200,000 dollar and close to 2000 volunteers tothe Hands For Habitat project, which officially broke ground on Oct. 7 and was scheduled to be completed before Dec. 15.
