Johannesburg - The decision by South African energy regula- tor NERSA to allow utility company Eskom to increase power tar- iffs by 8% annually over five years, instead of the 16% it applied for, has prompted mixed reactions from the country's industry. South Africa's Chamber of Mines said it was relieved that the electricity price would go up by only half the amount initially expected, but warned mines would still be negatively affected.
