London—Danish state-controlled DONG Energy said Tuesday it would sell its oil and gas producing unit in order to fund the expansion of its core offshore wind electricity generating operations. Denmark sees itself as being a world leader in the promotion and use of renewable energy. DONG, primarily a power group in Denmark and the Nordic region but with operations elsewhere in Europe, had said its oil and gas fields would remain amid a restructuring, but serve as a cash cow for the growing offshore wind business.
