Alexandria, Egypt-Eni has started drilling a fourth well at Egypt’s Zohr gas field, as the company picks up the pace on developing the new 30 Tcf offshore resource. Drilling began at the fourth well Tuesday, just six months after the Zohr fields initial discovery, a source close to the development told Platts Wednesday. Egyptian minister of petroleum, Tarek El-Molla, said Tuesday Eni has so far completed three of six planned wells for the field’s development phase. Lying in about 1,500 meters of water in the eastern Mediterranean, Eni hopes the field will start production by the end of 2017.
