Brazil’s June fuel sales hint at recovery

Rio de Janeiro-Brazil’s service stations registered a 5.3% year-on-year decrease in fuel sales in June, although monthly data pointed to signs of a nascent recovery in diesel and gasoline consumption, according to data published Friday by the National Petroleum Agency, or ANP. Fuel distributors sold 2.356 million b/d of oil products in June, down from the 2.488 million b/d sold in June 2015, the ANP said. Despite the year-on-year slide, June’s fuel sales rose 3.7% from the 2.271 million b/d sold in May, the ANP data showed.
