China September crude throughput rises 2.4%

China’s refinery throughput in September moved up 2.4% year on year to 43.80 million mt or 10.7 million b/d, preliminary data released Wednesday by the National Bureau of Statistics showed. State-owned refineries’ crude throughput was lower in September compared to August due to maintenance work being carried out at some of the plants, but independent refineries in Shandong lifted their crude runs last month due to a firmer demand outlook for September and October, as well as the restart of a few of those refineries after turnarounds, Platts previously reported.
