Gas suppliers wage quiet war in Europe

London-While Saudi Arabia and Iran battle it out publicly in their tussle over oil market share, the main suppliers of natural gas to the European market are quietly continuing their offensive to keep-or win-market share without the accompanying media circus. While many of the issues facing the gas exporting countries are the same as for oil exporters-a low price that is damaging to national economies, an uncertain demand outlook and competition from US unconventional production-the reaction so far has been to boost supplies at the expense of price.
