New York—Midwest refiners were the most profitable once again, with homegrown Bakken crude cracking margins rising to $24.15/b the week ended October 9, up from $24.10/b the prior week, Platts data showed. Platts margin data reflects the difference between a crude’s netback and its spot price. Netbacks are based on crude yields, which are calculated by applying Platts product price assessments to yield formulas designed by Turner, Mason & Co.
