Buenos Aires-Total plans this month to put into production the first of its two shale pilots in Argentina, followed by the second in 2016, as unconventional drilling picks up pace in the country. Sergio Giorgi, director of unconventional assets for the French company’s Total Austral Argentina, said the first pilot is in the dry gas window of Vaca Muerta, the country’s largest shale play-and one of the world’s biggest.
