Russian output cut technically impossible: Lukoil

Moscow—Russia and OPEC will not be able to agree on any coordinated action to cut production to support prices, Vagit Alekperov, the CEO of Russia’s second-biggest oil producer, Lukoil, said Monday in comments echoing those of Russian government officials in recent weeks. Russia’s oil sector differs significantly from many other oil producing countries, preventing it from being able to turn the taps on and off at will, Alekperov said in an interview with Russia 24 TV network broadcast Monday.
