Tokyo-Japan’s domestic oil products demand, excluding that for power generation, is forecast to rise 0.9% to 173.31 million kiloliters, or 2.99 million b/d, in the fiscal year ending March 31, 2016, driven by higher demand for gasoline, naphtha and gasoil, according to a forecast released Thursday by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry. Under the forecast approved by the ministry’s oil and natural gas subcommittee, Japan’s demand for gasoline, which accounts for around 30% of domestic consumption, is expected to rise 0.3% year on year to 53.187 million kl (916,536 b/d).
