Despite higher oil rig counts, analysts see less drilling

Houston—The Baker Hughes US oil rig count continued to tick up on Friday, even as analysts see drilling activity declining further for the rest of the year. Despite US oil prices that briefly dipped last week to the lowest levels seen in 2015, the weekly oil rig count rose by one to 675. That is up 7% from a June low of 628 rigs, still down from a recent peak of 1,609 in early October 2014.
