Japan set to layout 20-year energy plan

Tokyo-Three years have passed since a dev- astating earthquake temporarily shut down 1.4 million b/d or 31% of Japan's refining capacity and subsequently all of the country's operable nuclear reactors. The consequences of the March 2011 earthquake and tsunami forced Japan to fun- damentally review its energy policy. Finally, fol- lowing a series of discussions and recommen- dations, Japan's cabinet is expected to decide this month on the country's basic energy plan, which will be its policy for the next 20 years.
