Oil majors win Myanmar offshore blocks

Singapore—Myanmar on Wednesday announced the long-awaited results of its 2013 offshore bid round, awarding 20 blocks to a mix of international oil majors, national oil companies and independent oil and gas companies. The awards underline the changing scene in Myanmar’s upstream industry, which until a couple of years ago was dominated by national oil companies from Thailand, China, South Korea and India.
