Buenos Aires—Argentine Cabinet Chief Jorge Capitanich called on oil companies Tuesday to increase production after a decade of decline, pointing to state-run YPF as an example to follow. “Argentina needs to explore more to supply [the market] and guarantee energy self-sufficiency,” he said in a televised press conference. “Private companies have lessened the decline, but they have not entered into a process of investment to increase production at the velocity required by Argentina,” Capitanich said.
