Output declines sour Azeri oil field success story

London-Azerbaijan heralded a new start for the country’s oil industry 20 years ago when it signed a landmark deal with a BP-led group to develop three major oil fields in the Azeri sector of the Caspian Sea. But the former Soviet republic now faces declining production at the Azeri and Chi- rag fields and the deepwater portion of the Guneshli field amid a growing risk that conflict will disrupt pipelines from the Caspian.
