Angola set to take top African producer spot

Cape Town—Angola is poised to overtake Nigeria as Africa’s biggest oil producer within three years as volumes from the country’s deepwater oil develoments begins to ramp up, according to new US government report. The country’s oil production has been stagnant at around 1.7 million b/d in recent years but output could jump to around 2.8 million b/d by 2017 if new projects come on line, the US’s Energy Information Administration said in a report last week.
