US fines Swiss firm for sanctions violations, bribes

Washington-Swiss oilfield services company Weatherford International will pay $253 mil- lion to the US to settle charges that it violat- ed US sanctions on Cuba and Iran and used bribes and other enticements to win contracts in the Middle East and Africa, the company and US agencies said Tuesday.
