Juba, South Sudan—In its next budget, South Sudan plans to give priority to oil pipeline projects that will allow the country to export crude without sending it through feuding neighbor Sudan, a senior government official said Friday. Wani Buyu, undersecretary in South Sudan’s finance ministry, told local radio that the government was determined to award contracts to companies to build alternative oil routes to the Indian Ocean port of Lamu in Kenya and to Djibouti on the Red Sea.
