US crude output tops net imports in October: EIA

Washington-US crude production outpaced oil imports in October for the first time since Febru- ary 1995, the Energy Information Administration said Wednesday, marking the crossing of two trends that had been expected for some time. Actual domestic production from the Bak- ken, Permian and similar tight oil formations have consistently blown past even the most optimistic of forecasts. The EIA has had to revise upward its own domestic production esti- mates nearly ever quarter since April 2012. The EIA said as early as March of this year that it expected gushing domestic production to cross the largely statistical milestone by October.
