Reliance, BP make second gas find in Cauvery Basin

Mumbai—India’s Reliance Industries Ltd. and its partner BP have made a second gas discovery in block CY-DWN-2001/2 in the Cauvery Basin off the east coast of India. The gas condensate discovery came from well CYIII-D5-S1, located 62 kilometers (38 miles) off the coast, the partners said Friday. The well was drilled in a water depth of 1,743 meters to a total depth of 5,731 meters. Preliminary evaluation of well data and fluid samples indicated the presence of gas condensate in the reservoir interval, with a gross column of 143 meters, the companies said.
