Vancouver-Nexen, a division of China's state- owned CNOOC, and two Japanese partners have officially joined the crowded field of candi- dates hoping to export LNG from British Colum- bia to Asia by edging out three other contend- ers for a terminal site, authorities said. The Aurora LNG joint venture, with INPEX Corp. and JGC Corp. each holding 20%, has acquired exclusive rights to almost 1,900 acres of British Columbia government land and deep- water foreshore at Grassy Point, 18 miles north of Prince Rupert, for an immediate C$12 million ($11.47 million) non-refundable down payment and another C$12 million a year from now.
