Third train said highly likely at PNG project

Adelaide—The construction of a third train at the ExxonMobil-operated Papua New Guinea LNG project near Port Moresby is “increasingly more likely,” the chief executive of Australian partner Santos said May 15. The LNG project is operated and 33.2% held by ExxonMobil and 29% by PNG-focused upstream company Oil Search. The other partners are Santos (13.5%), the PNG government’s National Petroleum Company of PNG (16.8%), Japan’s JX Nippon Oil & Gas Exploration Corporation (4.7%) and PNG landowner group Mineral Resources Development Company (2.8%).
