Iraq completes Kurdistan oil export payment

Baghdad—The Iraqi government has made a first payment of Dinar 650 billion ($540 million) to the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) to cover previous oil exports and payments to foreign contractors operating in the semi-autonomous province, sources said. The transfer is the first tranche of the $1.5 billion that the KRG says it is owed by Baghdad for oil exports from the Kurdish province that were made before April 1, when the KRG stopped exports over non-payment.
