摘要

Washington—A package of new Iran sanctions stalled in the US Senate May 17 after Republicans objected to language they said weakened previous administration statements about keeping the option of military action open if Iran obtains nuclear weapons. Republicans refused to accept a unanimous approval of the bill, saying they wanted to work to resolve last minute differences with the goal of passing legislation on May 21, a day before talks between Iran and Western nations over the country’s nuclear ambitions is set to begin.
