Regular unleaded still on its way out in NSW

Sydney-The recent backflip by the govern- ment of the eastern Australian state of New South Wales on plans to ban the sale of regular unleaded gasoline from July will not save local drivers from having to make an unpopular choice between the alternative fuels: ethanol-blended gasoline and premium unleaded. Local retailers, led by BP and Shell, were quick to point out that the government's decision would not raise the availability of regular, or 91 RON, unleaded gasoline in the state, as long as it stuck with its 6% ethanol mandate.
