BP sees rising cost of Shah Deniz phase two

Baku—Total costs for the massive Shah Deniz Phase 2 project, expected to produce 16 billion cubic meters/year of natural gas from 2017, might reach as much as $45 billion, BP Azerbaijan President Rashid Javangir said last week. Speaking at an oil and gas conference in Baku, Javangir said that current budgeting covered around $25 billion for upstream development and expansion of the South Caucasus Pipeline, which carries gas from the Shah Deniz field in the Caspian Sea offshore Azerbaijan to the Georgian border with Turkey.
