China's CNPC targets higher gas output in 2012

Singapore-State-owned China National Petro- leum Corporation is targeting to produce 79.3 billion-82.1 billion cubic meters of natural gas in 2012, which would be 5%-8.7% more than the 75.5 Bcm it produced last year, CNPC said in a company newsletter. "[The company will boost] efforts to improve success rate and effectiveness of development wells, continue to explore coal- bed methane, shale gas technologies, and build more gas storage," according to the report published February 7 in China Petro- leum Daily.
