Weak margins push refiner S-Oil’s Q1 profit down 43%

Seoul—South Korea’s third-largest oil refiner S-Oil April 26 posted a net profit of Won 315.10 billion ($277 million), down 43% year on year, led by weak refining margins. The company’s operating profit fell 41% year on year to Won 382.20 billion, but sales revenue rose 32.5% from the same period the previous year to Won 9.04 trillion on a 13.2% jump in oil and petrochemical sales volume to 642,574 b/d.
