European receipts drive record US exports of ULSD

New York—US exports of ULSD jumped 146,000 b/d in May to a record high 834,000 b/d, monthly data released July 30 by the Energy Information Administration showed, with more shipments heading to Europe. The ULSD exports exceeded the prior record of 733,000 b/d set in December 2011. The US has been increasing its exports of distillates, primarily ULSD, since 2009, while decreasing imports. As a result, the US became a net exporter of ULSD in January 2009. May’s net exports of 745,000 b/d were the highest on record.
