Malaysia’s Petronas moves ahead on floating LNG project

Kuala Lumpur—Malaysia’s state-owned oil and gas company Petronas June 4 announced it has made a final investment decision on its first floating LNG project and said its maiden LNG import terminal in Melaka was mechanically complete and ready for startup in August. “It is [my] great pleasure to announce that we have reached a final investment decision on our first FLNG project, which aims to be the first of its kind in the world when it commissions in 2015,” Petronas CEO and Chairman Shamsul Azhar Abbas said in a speech during the opening ceremony of the World Gas Conference 2012.
