India to slash Iranian crude oil imports 40%

Mumbai—Indian refiners are scheduled to import just 10.5 million mt of Iranian crude oil this fiscal year, 40% less than the 17.5 million mt imported the previous fiscal year that ended in March, an oil ministry official said July 20. The volume for April 2012 through March 2013 is also well below the 15.5 million mt of Iranian oil that junior oil minister R.P.N. Singh said in May would be imported this fiscal year.
