Moscow—Russia’s largest independent gas producer Novatek may cancel plans to sell some of its remaining stake in the Yamal LNG project if the government moves ahead with plans to increase the mineral extraction tax (MET) for domestic gas producers, the company’s CFO Mark Gyetvay said May 15. France’s Total already bought into Yamal LNG earlier this year, and Novatek has said it would like at least one other partner to join the project.
