RWE halts talks on major Gazprom venture

London—German utility RWE said December 22 it has halted talks with Russia’s Gazprom on the creation of a possible joint venture to build power plants in Germany, the UK and the Netherlands. The failed deal would have enabled Gazprom for the first time to capture the full value chain, from gas production in Russia and transportation through its Nord Stream pipeline, to power sales in northwest Europe.
