KazMunaiGaz eyes increased international expansion

Moscow-Kazakhstan's state-controlled KazMunaiGaz continues to look for expansion outside of its home country, and is targeting moves into the upstream in Egypt, Turkmenistan and Russia, Managing Director Alik Aydarbayev said November 18. Through its listed subsidiary KazMunaiGaz Exploration Production, KazMunaiGaz made its first upstream move outside of Kazakhstan by agreeing to take a 35% stake in a gas exploration asset in the UK North Sea from BG Group in August 2010.
