Buenos Aires—Medanito, an independent oil producer in Argentina, plans to build a 15,700 b/d refinery to help meet rising fuel demand, the company said December 19. The Buenos Aires-based company said in an emailed statement that it has teamed up with Argentina’s Rovella Energia to present the Comahue refinery project to the national government to qualify for an incentive program. If the project is given the green light, the companies will invest about 1.8 billion pesos ($420 million) in building the refinery starting in 2013, Medanito said.
