Statoil to increase stake in Snohvit gas field, LNG plant

Singapore-Norway's Statoil will raise its stake in the Snohvit gas field in the Barents Sea and its associated Hammerfest LNG facility by buying out the 3.26% ownership held there by US-based Hess for an after-tax NOK1 billion ($177 million). The state-owned Norway major said November 4 it is also buying Hess' 11.25% interest in license area PL097 and 8.33% in PL110, as well as a 3.26% stake in PL110B, PL110C, PL448 and PL488. Hess remains a player offshore Norway with a non-operated 64.05% stake in BP's Valhall field.
