GDf Suez hit by dry well at promising Heilo prospect

Copenhagen-France's GDF Suez has failed to find oil in the main targets of its highly promising Heilo prospect in the Barents Sea, sending shares of its Norwegian partners plunging. An exploration well in license PL530 completed drilling the two main reservoirs and one of the secondary targets but failed to find hydrocarbons, Norwegian drilling partners Rocksource and North Energy said October 5. North Energy had estimated the pre-drill gross potential resource at 308 million barrels of oil equivalent. The prospect was seen as being oil with a gas cap.
