Amman-The potential loss of a significant chunk of Iraq's oil reserves as it pushes production capacity to more than 12 million b/d may lie behind the oil ministry's decision to consider launching an exploration round in one of the least explored of the world's oil-producing countries, analysts say. Experts believe Iraqi oil reserves, originall estimated at 115 billion barrels but recently revised upward, could fall by 50 billion barrels over the next two decades if the barrels produced are not replaced.
