Vancouver-Several oil producers in northern Alberta are using alternative shipping methods to bypass the Canadian province's worst oil spill since 1975 which is under investigation by the Energy Resources Conservation Board. An estimated 28,000 barrels of crude escaped following an April 29 rupture on the 220,000 b/d Rainbow Pipeline, which transported an average 187,000 b/d in 2010 (ON 5/5).
