Sydney-A platform with the capability of drilling in water depths of 3,000 meters was delivered May 23 to China National Offshore Oil Corporation, the country's largest offshore oil producer, state news agency Xinhua said. The CNOOC 981 rig cost Yuan 6 billion ($923 million) and was constructed over more than three years by China State Shipbuilding Corporation. The 31,000 mt platform is 114 meters long, 90 meters wide and 137.8 meters high, and is capable of drilling to 12,000 meters, according to CSSC.
