Vietnam's October product imports dip 20% on month

Hanoi-Vietnam's oil product imports in October dropped 19.9% to 769,201 mt compared with September, according to data from the General Department of Vietnam Customs. The drop means that demand growth over the first 10 months of the year, at only 8%, will not meet the government's expectation of late 2010. The Dung Quat refinery has often been at or above nameplate capacity this year, so the trade and industry ministry decided to slash its 2011 oil products import quota by 1.022 million cubic meters to 9.978 million cu m from 11 million cu m set earlier, said a document released by the ministry earlier this month.
