Hawaii utility signs new biodiesel deal with REG

Singapore-The Hawaiian Electric Company said it has signed a deal with a subsidiary of Iowa-based Renewable Energy Group, or REG, for the supply of 3 million to 7 million gallons/ year of biodiesel for two years. This marks the second contract the Hawaiian utility has signed with REG, which had won an earlier bid in October to supply 400,000 gallons of biodiesel for emissions testing at HECO's 110 MW generating unit at Campbell Industrial Park on Oahu.
