Moscow eyes TNK-BP, Sonatrach asset swap

Algiers-Russia raised the idea of an asset swap between TNK-BP and Algerian state oil company Sonatrach during a formal visit to the North African country October 6. Anglo-Russian TNK-BP is interested in buying assets BP has earmarked for sale in several countries, but a deal in Algeria could be complicated by Sonatrach’s pre-emption rights over anything BP might sell.
